Where we share our favourite English song

What type of music do you enjoy? Are you the hip-hop R&B type? Or are you the boy band type (e.g. Jonas Brothers)? In this entry, let's share our favourite music. Look for a youtube MV for your favourite song then embed the link in your comments. Next term, before the start of every lesson, we will get someone to share his or her favourite song. Looking forward to 'hearing' from all of you :)

    'Fix You' is one of my favourite songs by Coldplay, a British band. It is a song about how messed-up, confused, disgruntled, depressed and upset we can end up in life. Sometimes life feels like the lyrics. We are all stuck in reverse; that is to say I want to move forward but I cannot. But the song reminds us of the hope that there will be people around us who will help, guide and fix us. WJ

    Hello all , i am here to share with all of you my favourite english song - Right Here Waiting By Richard Marx .

    Although this song is quite a old song and not my generation's song ( I don't know why but i just like old song ) ,the lyrics are meaningful, easy to sing and the melody is catchy.

    This song is basically about love , and tells us that true love waits no matter how long , Love is Patient.

    Hi everyone, i am here to share with all of you my favorite song of all time - Viva la Vida by Coldplay.

    Guess me and Mr. Leong have a band in common.

    I love this song because its catchy, fast paced,and meaningful. I listen to it everyday at least 3 times. =). This sings is telling you about life, and when one day you can be on top of the world.. you mite be on the streets the next. It shows that honesty should be done always, and when you are in power don't take advantage...use it for good.

    I'm not actually a boy band guy...i Like many more singers such as Eminem, Avril Lavigne, My Chemical Romance, Kate Perry...etc.

    Viva La Vida is actually based on a painting the lead singer saw once and was inspired. This song is basically about that "the life live."

But this one, by far, has the strongest meaning. avenged sevenfold songs have deep meaning in them. The video is about a guy who robs a conveniance store with his buddies because he needs money to support his pregnant girlfriend. He gets caught while his buddies get away, and he's sent to jail. I love how the video really gets int detail. He actually shaved his head! That's dedication!! so his girlfriend is mad and they have a fight when she comes to visit him in jail. When she leaves, she's in a fatal car accident. She dies, but the baby lives. The guy can't even go to her funeral. And there's a really nice scene where Syn does his solo on her casket as its lowered into the ground. In the end, the guy gets out of jail and is visiting her grave with his friends and his son, who is now about four or five years old. Don't take the people close to you for granted. Because life is full of surprises. azira...

    << I did it for love >> is a pop genre type of song that I really liked. This is a situation with a girl that is in love with a guy that is a challenge to her. She is intimidated by him and she knows he is a bad boy, she shouldn’t be loving. Her friends ask why she is so caught up with this guy. She basically says “She Does It For love” This song is very addictive so go listen to it please.

    This is a song which became a hit single in 2001. It's about romance, and their relationship had became as a past as it's over. The girl still can't get over him, and always think of the past; their memories.

    I feel educated. Thank you for introducing these songs to me! I'm listening to them on Youtube.

    So Avenged Sevenfold is an American heavy metal band. When and how did some of you (Junhao and Azira) come into contact with music from this band? Do they enjoy mainstream success? Or are they an underground band?

    Amos, I must say I'm surprised by your choice. Richard Marx was not even my generation. I was in Primary School when this song debuted in 1989 (?). How did this become your favourite song? Did you hear it on the radio? Well, some songs are just timeless and this is a classic example.

    Hamza, you were right to say that Viva La Vida was inspired by a painting. If I'm not mistaken, it was a painting by the French artist Delacroix. Why don't you research on the song and the painting and tell us more about that in class when term re-opens?

    I came about this song when i was listening on the radio a few years back ,but i did not manage to hear the song title and singer.
    Coincidencially ,i saw the music video of this song on youtube and i could not stop listening. :)

    i love this song cause it has peaceful melody.

    when i hear this song.
    i will think of my grandmother.
    cause everything when i fail my exam or when im sad. she will always cheer me up. i talk to her about school work and alot of things. and i trust her, she will never tell any of my secrets to my mum. when i have any difficulties in life. i will seek help from her and she will guild me through everything.
    she thought me alot of thing also.
    things like how to cook and more. she help me to fold my clothes and cook for me. she did most of the house chores. when my mother nag and me and say that my grandmother is old and ask me to do the house chores. my grandmother will always tell my mum thati m still young and after school or cca im tired enough. when i offer to help her, she will always reject me.
    and ask me to revise my work. if i help her she will always give me some sweet to eat.

    Here is a little background about this amazing work of art. It’s by Eugène Delacroix (French Romantic Painter) and was painted in 1830 titled “Liberty Leading The People”. Eugene Delacroix is numbered among the greatest and most influential of French painters. He is most often classified as an artist of the Romantic school. His remarkable use of colour was later to influence impressionist painters and even modern artists such as Pablo Picasso.This painting, which is a sort of political poster, is meant to celebrate the day of 28 July 1830, when the people rose and dethroned the Bourbon king. Alexandre Dumas tells us that Delacroix’s participation in the rebellious movements of July was mainly of a sentimental nature. Despite this, the painter, who had been a member of the National Guard, took pleasure in portraying himself in the figure on the left wearing the top-hat. Although the painting is filled with rhetoric, Delacroix’s spirit is fully involved in its execution: in the outstretched figure of Liberty, in the bold attitudes of the people following herm contrasted with the lifeless figures of the dead heaped up in the foreground, in the heroic poses of the people fighting for liberty, there is without a doubt a sense of full participation on the part of the artist, which led Argan to define this canvas as the first political work of modern painting.
