Let's start from here

Welcome 2E5 to our favourite Rose-of-India-tree (blog) spot where we write, muse and talk. I have never blogged (I'm serious) but I have taken the liberty to set up this class blog (or more like an electronic journal) so as to:

(i) Encourage you to write; to comment on issues; to express your views outside the classroom context. This is therefore not composition writing. More like the keeping of a class journal.

(ii) Know you better and for you, to know me better.

Let's strike an agreement here. We will be fully responsible for what we say on this blog. That means you will all sign off your comment using your actual name. I will not condone (i.e. ignore) any form of pornography, obscenities, racial insensitivities or vulgarities on this blog. Is this a deal?

I don't know why you are all so tickled by the thick foliage of the Rose of India tree. (Patrick, stop laughing! STOP!) But I hope this blog will be so full of comments, writings, and sharings that our literary voices will weave the same thick canopy of a Rose-of-India tree.
